After getting her double major bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Environmental Science, Susan decided to pursue a career in environmental law. She wanted to be an advocate for the preservation and protection of nature in British Columbia. During her 14 years as legal counsel for the province of British Columbia, she specialized in civil litigation, with cases involving environmental, property, nuisance, riparian rights, fisheries, marine, land, tax, and negligence law. She was also part of the Climate Action Legal Team: a specialized team of lawyers focused on high level policy legal issues on carbon emissions, climate change, and the environment. 

 

Over time, Susan became disheartened with the limited control she had to pursue environmental litigation, especially regarding sustainability. She wanted to do more, so she decided to take matters into her own hands - and founded a clean tech company, Origen Air.

As of 2024, Susan continues to practice law while leading Origen Air’s mission to create healthier indoor environments through clean air.
